Your PC Central Processing Unit (CPU) Usage / Graphics Acceleration

If your PC is freezing, crashing or has slow performance, high CPU usage could be the cause.  

Being a video/audio platform, SK Virtual Visit will cause higher CPU usage when it is being utilized.

What is Normal and What is High CPU Usage?

Normal usage can vary depending on the tasks being performed, but typically, idle CPU usage should be around 10-30%.  During high-intensity tasks, CPU usage may spike to 70+%.  Consistently high CPU usage above 70% may indicate a problem such as unnecessary background processes or malware.

Check CPU Usage on Windows or MAC :

Windows	Open the Task Manager by either Ctrl + Shift + Esc, OR Ctrl + Alt + Del, then select 'Task Manager' Click 'Performance' > 'CPU'.
MAC	Open the Activity Monitor (Cmd+Spacebar) then type & select 'Activity Monitor' Click 'CPU' in the top bar and view your CPU usage at the bottom

Ensure that the Graphics Acceleration Feature is Turned 'On'

This uses graphics processing to increase the performance of applications.

Chrome	Open the Chrome browser Click the '3 vertical dots' in the top-right corner Select 'Settings' Click 'System' (along the left) Ensure 'Use graphics acceleration when available' is toggled 'ON'
Microsoft Edge	Open the Edge browser Click the '3 horizontal dots' in the top-right corner Select 'Settings' Click 'System and performance' (along the left) Ensure 'Use graphics acceleration when available' is toggled 'ON'
Firefox	Open the Firefox browser Click the '3 vertical lines' in the top-right corner Select 'Settings' Click 'General' (along the left) Ensure 'Use recommended performance settings' is checked 'ON'
Safari Note:  if using newer MacOS, this setting is defaulted to 'ON' and cannot be changed	If you are using an older version of MacOS, you can enable hardware acceleration by going to the 'Safari' menu then 'Settings” > Advanced > Enable Hardware Acceleration'.

Additional Tips (an administrator or IT specialist may be required for most):

• Restart your computer
• Check open processes - open the Task Manager and click the 'Processes' tab.  Be careful not to close any programs without knowing what they do.
• Scan your computer for viruses and malware
• Update your drivers
• Update your software
• Update your BIOS
• Check your power settings
• Clean your PC
• Run System Restore
• Reinstall Windows
