Yes, both the healthcare provider, patient and invited participants can share their screens while in the video.
- The video host will have to give permission for other participants to do so.
- Annotations can be added to the shared screen while it is displayed.
- A participant's video can be enlarged and moved around the screen when a screen is shared (called 'Picture in Picture').
Benefits:
- A great teaching tool for diagnosis or follow-up progress and results.
- Assists healthcare providers to clearly explain suggested procedures.
- Provides a clinical picture in correlation to the signs and symptoms.
Step 1 - Have the screen you wish to share open on your laptop/computer.
Step 2 - Click 'Share Screen' along the bottom panel of the video screen.
Step 3 - Select the screen or window you wish to share and click 'Share'.
Once the screen is visible, new buttons appear along the bottom of your video screen:
- Annotations - Click to highlight specific areas on your shared screen
- Stop Sharing - Click to stop sharing your screen
Allow Others to Screen Share
Step 1 - Click the drop-down beside 'Share Screen'.
Step 2 - Click either option to enable screen sharing for 'Providers Only' or 'Everyone'.
'Picture in Picture' Mode while Screen Sharing
Any participant may wish to focus on or enlarge another participant's video image while they are screen sharing.
Step 1: Share your screen.
Step 2: Once your shared screen is visible, right-click on the participant's video image you want to enlarge or move, then select 'Picture in picture'.
An extra step may be required on a MAC computer, if you do not see the participant's video image: beside the 'Stop sharing' button, click 'View tab: saskvirtualhealth.ca'. Their video image should appear.
Step 3: You will be able to move that participant's video image around your screen by clicking and dragging it. You can also enlarge their image by clicking and dragging the corner of the image.
Step 4: To exit Picture-in-Picture mode, hover over the participant's video image and click 'Back to tab' or the "x" in the top-right corner of the image. 'Stop Sharing' will also return them to normal.
