While in a patient consultation, you have the option to Allow or Decline consultation participants from entering the video. This allows you to video with a participant without others, who are part of the consultation, seeing or hearing your video discussion.
- Multiple videos may be started and stopped during the consultation, allowing or preventing participants as required.
- This feature works for participants/guests who are invited to join the entire patient consultation, such as care team members that a clinician is inviting from their own clinic and guests the patient invites (family members, caregivers or clinicians from other clinics).
- This feature does not work for anyone that is not invited to the full consultation but is only invited to the video portion, such as guests a clinician is inviting who are not part of their clinic. These invited guests only receive the video join-in link information and are Admitted or Declined into the video by the clinician.
- Consultation participants who are not in the video session will still have access to the consultation chat, therefore any chat that happens while the video is in progress, can be seen by everyone, regardless of their presence in the video or not.
Examples of times this feature could be useful:
- Clinician wants to video with their Admin or another Clinician from their clinic without the patient.
- Clinician wants to video with the patient without their invited family member, caregiver, a care team member from their clinic or a clinician from another clinic.
- Clinician wants to video with invited patient family member, caregiver, a care team member from their clinic or a clinician from another clinic without the patient.
Step 1 - When ready, click the ‘Video Chat’ button along the top of the consultation.
Step 2 - Click 'Prevent Other Consultation Participants From Joining'.
Step 3 - Uncheck the name of the person(s) you don't want in the video session.
In the following example, E Test Doctor and Administrator are checked and Demo Patient is not, therefore Demo Patient will not have access to the video session. They should be asked to remain in the consultation until they are asked to join a video and a new video session is initiated that includes them.
Step 4 - Check to enable your microphone, camera and remember your preferences.
When ready, click 'Start Video Chat'.
You will be taken directly into the video. Once your participant(s) enable their video and audio, they will arrive in the video.
Step 5 - If other participants have been invited by you, you will be prompted to allow or deny them access.
Note: if a participant is 'Declined' they will no longer have access to join the video session.
